Once upon a time...

Once upon a time there lived a beautiful princess named Gloria Grace. She was a wonderful baby who rarely fussed and was always smiling. At meal time, Gloria would eat her food neatly off a spoon held by her mommy or daddy.

One evening, at the end of September, Gloria decided that although she was hungry, she didn't want to eat what her mommy was feeding her. Gloria would fuss and turn her head away. She would bring her hands up to her face and push the spoon away. Finally, Gloria's mommy thought, "Hmmm, what if I let Gloria feed herself from the spoon?" She carefully put the spoon into Gloria's hand with some food on the end of it. Surprisingly, the food made it into Gloria's mouth (along with part of Gloria's hand). Gloria's mommy tried to take the spoon back from Gloria to put more food on it, but Gloria didn't want to let go. So, her mommy got out another spoon and with it, put more food onto Gloria's spoon.





After a few bites on her own (with directional help from Mommy), Gloria's face began changing colors! Instead of being rosy pink, her face began turning orange and green. Those darn carrots and peas weren't all making it into Gloria's mouth! Gloria's mommy tried to help her by trying to wipe her face off, but Gloria fussed and fussed so Mommy decided to let her be.




Gloria's mommy managed to feed her a few bites from the second spoon in between Gloria feeding herself. By the time dinner was over, Gloria had eaten most of her food. There was nothing left in the bowls, just some on her high chair and bib that she wanted to save as a snack for later.
