Last year at this time

Last year, on this date, I took Gloria to the YMCA for her first swimming lesson. She had a blast - a natural born water baby!

"Yay! I'm going swimming!"

"Come on Mom. Let's just go!!!!"

Later that day, Gloria showed off her cute tongue and her silly looking 'snout face.' She hasn't shown us her 'snout face' in quite awhile.

"I really like jumping in my jumperoo!"

Gloria really likes stickers. She'll help me put stickers on envelopes and packages. I let Gloria play with some stickers I had gotten in the mail. She can't quite get them off of the sheet herself, but she'll point to what one she wants and I'll peel it back a bit. She takes it off of the sheet and then they usually go on her arms and legs.

Zoo!

Sadly, our year-long zoo membership expired a week ago and since we're moving, we've opted not to renew. Last Thursday, Gloria, Rob, and I went to the zoo for the last 'free' time. We went in the evening after Rob came home from work and we had a really good time!


This wallaby came right up to the edge of the grass in front of us until I started making kissy noises. Then he hopped away!

"Wallaby fur is soft!"

"I'm such a lucky little girl!"

"Daddy and I were petting goats and brushing them!"

"I helped to make this goat's fur nice and soft."

"Daddy, I see the mountain lion! Up in the corner!"

Yes, the lions are real. This is the closest that we've seen them. The male was hiding up on the hill, but the sisters were right down by the window.

"This is one of my favorite things to do at the zoo! Make music!"

"Daddy played along with me. I wanted Mommy to play on the middle drum, but she was busy taking the video."

Pee-pee!

Gloria loves reading the book "Once Upon a Potty" about a little girl named Prudence who gets a new potty. Because she likes the book so much, we went to the store and bought Gloria her very own Prudence potty. Now she can sit on the potty just like the girl in the story. Gloria even likes to read the book while she's sitting on the potty. Sometimes she sits down with her clothes on. Other times she lets me take off her diaper to sit down.

Yesterday before she went to bed, we put Gloria on the potty without her diaper. She had told us "poo-poo" so we hurried and put her on the potty. She didn't go poo-poo, though she kept saying it and looking in the potty. She stood up and, oops, pee-peed on the floor. I quickly sat her back down on the potty. A few minutes later, when she stood up again, there was pee-pee in her potty!

"I'm a big girl!"

I called Rob in, and we clapped and cheered for her! She kept looking in her potty to see it. She was smiling and clapping her hands too! We opened up the toilet and dumped her pee-pee in. Gloria said, "Bye-bye" and we flushed it down.

"Bye-bye pee-pee!"

Because she went in her potty, she got to put a sticker on the back of it. She had a G sticker that we put on right when we got the potty out. She had an L sticker from one morning when she had a little poo stuck on her that fell off in the potty - so it looked like she had gone. And yesterday she put the letter O on. Guess what we're going to spell!

New house!

We bought our first house! Gloria has a blast going over to the "nuuuu" house and looking in all of the rooms. She can take you on a tour and show you where her bedroom is going to be, where Mommy and Daddy's bedroom is, and where "Rah-Rah" (Randall, our friend/contractor) is sleeping for now. She'll tell you that there is a bathtub in her room right now, as the bathroom is getting remodeled. Gloria likes to go up and down the steps and run around in the big open basement. We should be moving in at the end of August/beginning of September. What a change it will be!

"I like getting my hands dirty fixing things! I'm scraping off tile adhesive!"

"Taking a rest on Rah-Rah's bed. Remodeling is tiring!"

"There's a bathtub in my new room!"

"I wonder if Daddy will let me keep the tub in here?"

This was Gloria's first time playing with Play-doh. At first she looked at it with a questioning expression on her face, like do I even want to touch it? But after I showed her how to poke her finger in it and smush it with her hand, she totally got into it. Now when we play with it she doesn't want to quit! She keeps telling me "moh."

"I like when Mommy makes balls and snakes for me to squish!"


Boomer is so calm and patient with Gloria. She loves on him so much every day. Sometimes she'll just hug and kiss him. Other times she'll try to pick him up (but he's too heavy)! And, as you can see in the pictures, on this day she just wanted to be like him and give him some hugs.
