Ruffle butt

"Good morning!"

Gloria looked so cute in her red, white, and blue outfit that she wore for the 4th of July that she's worn it a few more times since. There's something about ruffles on a baby's butt that's so cute :)

"Ruffle butt!"

She's just too freakin' cute! I can't stand it!

Every time we go outside when the sun is shining, Gloria sneezes and squints. While we were at Meijer the other day, I bought some baby sunglasses that velcro together in the back. I wasn't sure how Gloria was going to react when I put them on her, but she didn't seem to mind. She was probably wondering why it had gotten darker in the house. We went on a walk a few days ago when it was really sunny. I put her sunglasses on and she was content for the entire time. (I took them off when we turned around, away from the sun.)

Bananas, Avocado, Oatmeal

Gloria loves her solid foods! On the 4th, Rob mixed her up a tasty banana puree. She gobbled it down with no hesitation.

"'Nanas are yummy!"

Four days later, on Tuesday the 8th, we mushed up 1/2 of an avocado for her. She enjoyed it as well. Since then we've also fed her a mix of avocado and banana.

"Green looks good on me!"

"Mmmmm!"

Yesterday, we gave Gloria oatmeal for breakfast. She wanted maple and brown sugar oatmeal, but we only had baby oatmeal for her. Gloria gobbled it up.

"I like oatmeal!"

"Feed me!"

Up next on our list of foods to introduce to Gloria are sweet potatoes, carrots, and prunes. Not only is Gloria eating her food like she's done it all her life, she's also drinking water from a sippy cup.

"Good stuff."

Check out Gloria eating her yummy food!

Happy 4th of July!

Doesn't Gloria look festive in her red, white, and blue?!

We hope everyone has/had a very safe and happy 4th of July!

Sitting up

Gloria has gotten very skilled at sitting up by herself. She stills needs a pillow or a person behind her because she tends to over-correct when she goes from leaning forward to sitting back. It hasn't been too long since she's been sitting like this - maybe a week, give or take a few days. If she's in a slightly reclined position she tries to get into a sitting position and sometimes succeeds (if she's not leaning back too far).

"Sitting up and playing toys is fun."

"It's a good thing Mommy put this pillow around me!"

Gloria has also gotten very good at holding books with both hands. She likes to help us turn the pages when we read to her, or just hold on to both sides of the book. Lately she's been lying on her back and looking at books. Gloria's going to be a super reader just like her mommy. Thank goodness - since I'm a children's book addict!
